About the event
MOVING THE STORY is a bi-weekly workshop that meets on Thursdays from 7-8:30 pm (CST) by Zoom or in person at Porch Light. Over six sessions that start in darkest winter and move to early spring, we'll use writing and movement prompts and guided meditations to explore the six elements -- earth, fire, water, air, ether, and consciousness. The practices and the elements are doorways into exploring whatever issues are currently alive for you. This is a wonderful practice for diving deep into a question or project and coming out with unexpected answers. We'll be in community, sharing reflections and providing support for one another.
We meet every other week. You'll receive guided meditations and writing practices for the weeks in-between. Although you can attend a single session, participating in the entire series is the richest experience!
The series is led by writer and somatic guide Jennifer New. Jennifer has published three books and taught yoga for more than a decade. She is a student of Buddhism, conscious dance, trauma-informed movement, and other modalities. As a participant in last winter's Moving the Story workshop said: "This experience was transformative for me! It came at a rather dark time and brought light, warmth and flow into patterns that were painfully stuck and closed. Jennifer's gentle but energetic and spirited guidance allowed us to dive deeper into our individual stories, shared sorrows and aspirations. She created a wonderful sense of community, hope, and available strength and resources."
